Saving the best till last

John 2:10 “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

God loves life and he does not reject a good party. Proof of this is that Jesus’ very first miracle was turning water into wine. For all the religious folk out there who believe this verse is actually speaking about unfermented grape juice, well, read the verse again: they had too much to drink. Now God is clear that he does not want his people to get drunk on wine, but he does appreciate making a better wine!

The amazing thing is that Jesus created a wine that was better than all other wines that evening. The masters of ceremonies exclaimed, “you have saved the best till now”. This is how God always works. He always goes from good to great, from better to best. He created the pinnacle of creation, humans, on the sixth day, as the last of his creative works. And in your life he will create bigger and better things as you walk with him. Do not settle for the thinking that God wants you to live a small, impoverished, weak life. He wants you to shine like a star in the firmament, for his glory.
