Imitation Faith?

Hebrews 13:7-8 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Recently in China an Apple store was discovered that was not the real Apple (Mac) thing. It was fake. The products sold looked like Apple, but they were imitations.

In the Bible we are encouraged to “imitate” the faith of our leaders. Look at what they do, check the outcome of what they do, and then imitate what they do.

“How can that be?” – you ask – “isn’t such faith fake?” Well, the next verse says that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. We are encouraged to look at the “sameness” of the Producer, the author of our faith. He will never be fake, unreal, irrelevant or unsuccessful. Therefore, whether we imitate someone else’s faith or produce our own, the focus is the same: Jesus Christ who never changes. So when it’s difficult to get your own faith engine going borrow some from those who are an example to you.

Once you “get it”, you can then produce your own faith in the One who never changes, who’s always real.
