Hebrews 6:12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
When you are waiting in line at the traffic lights, it can seem like a waste of time. We think that hard working people should be on the move, always. And waiting is a nuisance, a necessary but unavoidable evil, that is bearable for lazy people only.
Surprise when we find out from the Bible that waiting is a good thing. We are called to “wait on God”, to “wait patiently”, to “wait quietly”, to “wait in hope”. Waiting patiently is not for lazy people. We inherit what is promised through faith and patience. It is a great thing to have faith, but it is hard work to persevere, to wait and keep waiting. Abraham had faith. Yet he had to wait twenty-five years for the promise to come to pass. Noah had faith, yet he had to wait for the rain to cover the earth completely. Jesus had faith, yet he waited three days in the earth before he rose from the dead.
A patient person knows that eventually the things that he is waiting for will come to pass. An impatient person turns around and starts following other ways. Trying to bypass the process they never reach the ultimate faith destination.
Today, be a person who gets what they want by.. waiting patiently.
