Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
After taking up the shield of faith (see blog post on weapon #4: Faith) we need 2 more pieces of the armor. The fifth piece is a helmet to protect our mind.
The helmet over our mind is a helmet of salvation, meaning “deliverance from the molestation of enemies” (Strong’s Lexicon). What’s in your head will determine where you go. What you see is what you get. So if you see dark clouds ahead of you chances are that you will end up in the rain. As a man thinks, so is he we read in Proverbs 23:7.
So it’s important to cover what is inside of you. Putting on the helmet of salvation protects you during the day from the onslaught of negative thinking and a molestation of dark thoughts. So what you do is you pray at the start of the day, “right now God I am putting your helmet of salvation on my head. Thank you for protecting me. Let only your thoughts reach me, and protect me from negative onslaughts”. Then trust God to protect you.
