Look in the mirror

Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

One of the biggest temptations we all face is the temptation to judge others. We judge by appearances, by what people say, by what they don’t say, by what they do, or by what they don’t do. We even judge based on just what we think about that person, or on what we have heard others say about someone.

We need to start looking in the mirror. The reason we think the speck of sawdust in someone else’s eye is so big, is because there is a plank in our own eye blocking the view!

When we look in the mirror of God’s word, we can let his word be the first judge. Then we have clear vision to remove any plank that might be in our own eye. By that time the speck of sawdust in our brother’s eye is probably gone.
