Joshua 21:45 Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.
How would you feel about God’s promise of delivering you and giving you a land of your own if for forty years you were traveling around the same mountain, going nowhere like a nomad? If you were anything human, you would probably not say “All God’s good promises to me are going to be fulfilled!”
Yet the Word of God says exactly that about God’s promises. Every single one of them was fulfilled to Israel. This is the nature of a God promise.
A God promise does not come when we expect, and it does not come the way we expect. Certainly after forty years the people of Israel were weary of believing the good old promise. Yet God had not forgotten his promise. And he fulfilled them to his people. But only after those forty years. Maybe you have been travelling around the same mountain for forty months. Don’t give up on believing: your time might be just around the corner.
The promise came in a different way also – they were fulfilled to the children of the first generation after the exodus. Sometimes we think it’s all over. God’s word to us today is: “it ain’t over till it’s over!”
Remember this: a God promise is a good promise. And good promises won’t fail.
