Luke 3:21-22 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Many people wonder whether they should get baptized. Or when. Well, I don’t think it can be much clearer than this: “when all the people were baptized, Jesus was baptized too”. Jesus did deem it necessary for himself to be baptized and called it “to fulfill all righteousness”, which basically means “I’m doing the right thing here, like I’ve always been doing, and always will be doing”.
When you are a believer in Christ, it is the right thing to get baptized. As soon as you know you want to follow Jesus with all your heart, baptism is imperative. It will literally seperate you from the ways of the world.
Today we also read about Noah and the flood (Genesis 6-7). The Bible connects baptism with the flood:
1 Peter 3:20-21 God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also
Be like Noah. Seperate yourself from a world that will fade away. Create an open heaven over your life by following Jesus. All the way.
