The Bible speaks a lot about faith, hope and love. The most well-known passage is found in 1 Corinthians 13:13 “and these three remain: faith, hope and love”. Faith, hope and love are interconnected. Notice that hope is in the middle. It holds faith and love together. It forms the base for love and faith –
Colossians 1:3 … faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven
We have faith because we have hope. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is being sure of what you hope for. Therefore you got to start with hoping for something, before you can have faith for it. First you hope, then you believe. It is like falling in love. It all starts with desire. “I hope she likes me. I desire so much that she would like me…” After a while, when things go well, faith kicks in. “I know she likes me, she can’t hide it from me now!”
We also have love because we have hope. Psalm 33:22 exclaims “May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you”. Because we start hoping, we can start experiencing. We experience his love.
