Picking up your cross daily

Matthew 27:32 As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.

All of us have a cross to carry. Jesus calls us to pick up our cross daily and follow him. What is the cross you got to pick up every day?

It is best that we pick up our own cross instead of having to be forced to carry it. Simon from Cyrene was forced to carry the cross. When we are forced to carry our cross we do not surrender to it willingly. We ignore burdens in our life until they become too heavy and we end up having to carry them anyway. Or we let things go out of control until we are forced to deal with it.

Picking up your cross daily means that we willingly allow our own attitudes to be submitted to the cross, every day. In this way we surrender to a process of the cross – a much better way to die to self than the forced cross that could crush us instantly.

Which cross will you pick up today?
